What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of conversations that explore life, spirituality and faith in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment. It’s a chance to be open about the big questions in life. Each week there is a short video that is meant to promote discussion. Afterwards, there is time to ask questions and share your thoughts in a small group discussion. It’s totally free, and regardless of your experience with faith or background, everyone is welcome.

Alpha is for everyone! Questioning, skeptical, or wanting to learn more about Christian faith? Are you looking for a place to ask your tough questions about life or faith? Alpha is for you! 

2024 Alpha Opportunities

ALPHA YOUTH for HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

JANUARY 24 – MARCH 27, 2024
Each Wednesday you can join us for dinner, an interesting video, and great conversation with other teens who have questions about life and faith. Your friends are welcome to join you – just let us know they are coming.
Dinner starts at 5:15 pm in West Side North (615 Wright Ave – single-story bldg) Alpha video and discussion from 6:00-7:30 pm in West Side South High School room (603 Wright Ave – the 2-story bldg). All High School students are welcome to join us, regardless of background or experience with faith. As always, there is no cost to you.

ALPHA for PRESCHOOL FAMILIES & FRIENDS

JANUARY 29 – April 29, 2024

 

Open to everyone! Drop in and check it out! Monday mornings (no Alpha on 4/1/2024 during Spring Break). West Side friends, and parents and grandparents of preschoolers: Would you like to make some new friends; enjoy a free breakfast; and talk about questions of life, faith, and God? Preschool parents – join us while your child is at Preschool! Come to the Cafe (1-story bldg) each Monday – you can arrive anytime between 9:00 and 9:30 am for hot coffee and breakfast and time to get to know each other. 

Babies and toddlers are welcome! We have toys and space for your babies and toddlers to play near you with a childcare provider to help facilitate play. We will watch a short video each week about an interesting topic with time for group discussion afterwards. There is no cost to you!

 

ALPHA FOR YOUNG ADULTS (Ages 18-30)

coming in mid-JUNE 2024
This Alpha is a fun place for young adults to get together one night a week to enjoy great snacks and friendship over the summer. We’ll watch the Alpha video together with plenty of time for discussion. Bring your friends and try it out!

ALPHA for ADULTS

FALL 2024
This Alpha traditionally runs on Tuesday evenings for dinner (plus dessert!), a short video, and small group discussion. Introductory dinner will be Tues., Sept. 17, 2024 at 6 pm. Childcare may be provided on an as-needed basis. Bring your friends and share your thoughts and questions in a fun, friendly environment.

Are you looking to join a small group where you can get connected with new friends at West Side and meet new people? Come to Alpha! Whether you’re new to faith or a long-time Christian, we have a small group for you. After Alpha, your group can decide if they want to continue meeting weekly during Wednesdays@West Side for regular A2/After Alpha class.
