What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of conversations that explore life, spirituality and faith in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment. It’s a chance to be open about the big questions in life. Each week there is a short video that is meant to promote discussion. Afterwards, there is time to ask questions and share your thoughts in a small group discussion. It’s totally free, and regardless of your experience with faith or background, everyone is welcome.

Upcoming Alpha Opportunities

Fall ALPHA for ADULTS

Starting on Tuesday, September 15
Join us on Tuesday evenings at 6 pm for dinner (plus dessert!), a short video, and small group discussion. Childcare is available for children elementary school age and younger. Bring your friends and share your thoughts and questions in a fun, friendly environment. Come to our Intro to Alpha Dinner on Sept. 15 at 6 pm to find out what Alpha is all about!

A2: After Alpha for High School Students

Starting on Wednesday, September 23
With Alpha and youth leadership. A2 or “After Alpha” is a group for high school students who have questions about faith, life, and God. We value peer-to-peer relationships where the group gets to figure things out together. There are no wrong answers, just honest opinions. Come for dinner at 5:15 pm and stay for games before digging into great conversation. Register on the right and let us know you’re coming!

MORNING ALPHA

Coming in January 2027
Open to everyone! Drop in and check it out! Would you like to make some new friends, enjoy a free breakfast, and talk about questions of life, faith, and God? Adults of every age are welcome. Preschool parents – join us while your child is at Preschool! Come to the Cafe in the North building (1-story bldg) each week for discussions, breakfast, refreshments, and more – you can arrive anytime between 9:00 and 9:30 am for hot coffee and breakfast and time to get to know each other. 
Babies and toddlers are welcome! We have toys and space for your babies and toddlers to play near you with a childcare provider to help facilitate play. We will watch a short video each week about an interesting topic with time for group discussion afterwards. There is no cost to you! 

*There is no Alpha on school holidays

 

ALPHA YOUTH for HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Wednesday Evenings, beginning mid-January 2027 
Each Wednesday you can join us for dinner, an interesting video, and great conversation with other teens who have questions about life and faith. Your friends are welcome to join you – just let us know they are coming.
Dinner starts at 5:15 pm in the NORTH Cafe (615 Wright Ave – 1-story bldg) followed by an Alpha video and discussion 6:00-7:30 pm in the SOUTH High School room (603 Wright Ave – the 2-story bldg). All High School students are welcome to join us, regardless of background or experience with faith. As always, there is no cost to you.

A2 BIBLE STUDY FOR YOUNG ADULTS (Ages 18-35)

Wednesday evenings in June & July @ 6 pm

This A2 Bible Study is a fun place for young adults to get together one night a week to enjoy refreshments and build new friendships over the summer while exploring topics of faith and the Bible. Join us on Wednesday nights during the summer. Bring your friends and try it out! Use the form to register or contact Shawn Bassler at info@westside1.org for more information.

Are you looking to join a small group where you can get connected with new friends at West Side and meet new people? Come to Alpha! Whether you’re new to faith or a long-time Christian, we have a small group for you. After Alpha, your group can decide if they want to continue meeting weekly during Wednesdays@West Side for regular A2/After Alpha class.
